Vespers for the Feast of the Dormition

TROPARION
In giving birth, you preserved your virginity. In falling asleep you did not forsake the world, O Theotokos. You were translated to life, O Mother of Life, and by your prayers, you deliver our souls from death.
KONTAKION
Neither the tomb, nor death, could hold the Theotokos, who is constant in prayer and our firm hope in her intercessions. For being the Mother of Life, she was translated to life, by the One who dwelt in her virginal womb.
In Kassos Island and generally the whole of Greece, and the Christian world we worship the 15th August as the Feast of the Theotokos/Panagia (The Virgin Mary). I hope that the congregation of Lampeter will attend church for evening vespers on the Monday, the day before 15th. In Kassos it is the biggest day of the church calendar and Greek Kasiotis come from all over the world to be there. I hope our congregation in Lampeter acknowledge the 15th August also.
